untitled (vessel)

2026

untitled (vessel) begins AX’s line of inquiry into autonomy of the object in time-based art. Utilising the parallel of the pregnant body, an electronic keyboard is transformed into a “non-functional” vessel for its gestating digital child, channeling a voice and expressions that do not clearly belong to one or the other. The process of creating a proxy, or surrogate, of the artist is reinflicted upon the proxy itself.

modified electronic keyboard, single-channel video, processed speech-to-midi audio, silicone caulk, disassembled keyboard stand, displaced electronic components from untitled (vessel), silicone, plastic medical procedure trays, nails, 40 pages of sheet music transcribed from processed speech-to-midi audio
